One on one training
Personal Training, PT, my trainer, coach, health coach, whatever you call it, we all need someone in our corner, and the truth is we're worth it.
So what is personal training - well, it's you and a coach working together. Guiding you through a program, progressing, monitoring and adjusting to ensure your health and fitness is moving in a positive direction. Empathy, understanding, and compassion are essential as the profession has moved from the drill sergeant with a whistle to a genuine coach in your corner.
The interesting thing about health is it's always there, good, bad or indifferent. Regardless of whether you're recovering from a heart attack, a lifelong smoker or someone that's just smashed a personal best, your health is a constant, the infinite game and the ultimate pillar of success. Of course, none of us wants to succeed at the cost of it, and I think that's why with so much change in recent times, there has been a significant swing back to prioritising our health as a society.
What does that look like for you? The first step in the personal training process is setting appropriate goals; what is your ten out of 10? How are you living once you've achieved it? The more critical second step is setting up the process and accountability to live it. If your fitness and health is an ongoing status, let's not let our goals jeopardise that.
Anyone can lose weight by not eating for three days but what are you likely to do on day 4?
Anyone can add an extra 5% to your lift at the cost of good form. How many times can you let your ego control the next lift before you break?
Anyone can put their head in the sand and say, 'have to die of something' while they light up another cigarette?
The personal training relationship removes the long term neglect for a cheap win. It removes the ego. It goes toe to toe with that voice that says behind the sarcasm, 'I'm not worth it'. Because you are!
Yours in health
